Good Afternoon, first of all on behalf of the CSOs,
I would like to thank FAO and AsiaDHRRA for organizing this FAO PH-CSO
Consultation-Workshop on Strengthening Engagement and Convergence.
We are happy that FAO recognize the importance and
the contribution that CSOs can provide in furthering their programs
particularly in the rural areas. But we would be happier if FAO can consider
the CSOs as their partners rather than just beneficiaries of their programs
with the government. We realize that FAO’s mandate is to work with the
government but perhaps, FAO could use its influence to persuade government to
include the CSOs in their proposal project, even from the planning stages.
There are already existing CSO platforms that can be tapped for specific area
of development, thus, engaging the appropriate CSO will not be a problem. We
hope that this kind of partnership/ engagement can be developed.
We look forward to a genuine FAO-CSO engagement.
